Why Did You Choose Your Major?
TL;DR: This is mostly asked of early-career candidates to understand how they think about decisions and whether the choice connects to the role.
Connect it to where you are now
Even if your major and the job don't perfectly align, explain the reasoning behind the choice and how it's shaped skills relevant to this role.
It's fine if the path wasn't linear
Plenty of strong candidates ended up somewhere different from what their major suggests. Briefly explain the shift honestly — interviewers generally respect a clear, thoughtful pivot more than a forced straight line.
