How to Cold Email a Hiring Manager (With Template)

TL;DR: A well-targeted cold email can outperform a formal application, especially for smaller companies.

A simple template

"Hi [Name], I've been following [Company]'s work in [specific area] and wanted to reach out directly. I'm a [title] with experience in [specific relevant skill], and I think there could be a strong fit for [specific role or need]. Open to a quick conversation?"

Reference something specific and recent

A mention of a recent product launch, funding round, or announcement shows you did real research, not a mass blast.

Keep the ask small

A brief call or a pointer to the right person is an easier yes than asking someone to review your entire resume unprompted.
