How to Answer "Tell Me About Yourself"

TL;DR: This is usually the opening question, and it sets the tone for the entire interview. A rambling answer here creates doubt before you've even gotten to the real questions.

Use a present-past-future structure

Start with where you are now professionally, briefly cover the relevant path that got you here, then land on why you're excited about this specific role.

Keep it under 90 seconds

This isn't your full career history. Stick to the 2-3 experiences most relevant to the job you're interviewing for.

Practice it, but don't memorize it word for word

You want it to sound natural, not recited. Know your key points and let the phrasing vary slightly each time.
