How Long Should a Resume Be?

TL;DR: For most professionals, one page is still the safest default, with two pages acceptable at senior levels.

The general rule

Early-to-mid career: one page. Senior/executive with 15+ years of relevant experience: up to two pages. Academic or federal: length requirements differ entirely.

Cut ruthlessly

If you're over the target length, look for outdated roles, redundant bullet points, and generic responsibilities that don't showcase a specific result.
