How to Write a 30-Second Elevator Pitch

TL;DR: A strong pitch is specific, not a vague summary of your entire resume.

Use a simple structure

Who you are professionally, one specific strength or achievement, and what you're looking for next — in under 30 seconds.

Practice it out loud, not just on paper

Pitches that read well often sound stiff spoken aloud. Practice it conversationally until it doesn't sound memorized.

Adapt it to the room

A networking event pitch and an interview pitch should emphasize slightly different things — adjust based on who's listening and what they need to know.
