Red Flags in a Job Offer

TL;DR: A few warning signs in an offer letter are worth pausing on before you sign.

Vague or shifting compensation details

If bonus structure, equity, or commission terms are described only verbally and not in writing, get clarity before accepting.

Excessive pressure to sign immediately

A reasonable employer expects you to take at least a few days to review an offer — heavy pressure to sign on the spot is worth noting.

Unusually broad non-compete language

If the offer includes a non-compete or non-solicitation clause, have it reviewed, especially if it's broader than what's typical in your industry or state.
