Do You Need a Resume Objective?

Objectives are mostly outdated

A traditional objective ("Seeking a challenging role where I can grow...") tells the reader nothing useful. Most modern resumes use a summary instead.

When an objective still works

For students, career changers, or anyone whose target role isn't obvious from their work history, a brief, specific objective can clarify intent — as long as it's concrete, not generic.
