​Canon Medical Systems (CMSU) is a global leader in diagnostic imaging. This Technical Support Engineer role, specializing in Vascular (VL) and X-Ray (XR) modalities, is a high-level “expert” position designed to drive technical self-reliance within the Central region. You will act as the Tier 2 bridge between the field and National Technical Support (NTS), ensuring that complex imaging systems remain operational for healthcare providers, including critical Veterans Administration sites.

• ​Compensation: $96,000 – $155,200 (DOE)
• ​Location: Remote/Field-based (Must live in the Central Time Zone)
• ​Travel: 50% + (On-site support and inspections)
• ​Experience: 5–7 years servicing X-Ray or Vascular modalities.
• ​Core Focus: Tier 2 Escalations, FSE Mentorship, and Remote Diagnostics.

​Modality-Specific Tier 2 Support

​You are the primary escalation point for Field Service Engineers (FSEs) struggling with complex Vascular and X-Ray system failures. Your role involves diagnosing intricate hardware and software issues that go beyond standard maintenance. You will perform site audits for “lemon” systems (those with high service call rates) to identify root causes related to installation, environment, or component failure.

​Remote Diagnostics & Dispatch Avoidance

​Utilizing remote service tools like InnerVision, you will analyze service alerts directly from customer scanners. By resolving issues via phone or remote connection, you aim to maximize “dispatch avoidance,” ensuring systems are repaired without the delay of a physical visit. You will also collaborate with Clinical Support teams to distinguish between technical hardware faults and technologist application errors.

​Leadership, Training, and Compliance

​A significant portion of your impact comes from building “technical self-reliance” in your region. You will mentor struggling FSEs, conduct on-the-job training, and lead the installation of new products. Additionally, you will support Veterans Administration (VA) sites to ensure they are prepared for rigorous inspections and facilitate the completion of all Field Maintenance Instructions (FMIs) and safety updates.
