Technical Support Engineer – Jama Software (Remote)
Jama Software is a leader in requirements management, helping engineering organizations in high-stakes industries like aerospace, medical devices, and automotive minimize risk through their Jama Connect® platform. This Technical Support Engineer (TSE) role is a high-level technical position that spans both Cloud (SaaS) and Self-Hosted environments. You will be the primary technical resource for complex migrations, Java-based troubleshooting, and infrastructure configuration.
- Location: Remote (US)
- Experience: 2+ years in Java web app support & Linux command line.
- Core Tech Stack: Java, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs.
- Schedule: Includes an on-call rotation (nights/weekends).
Cloud & Self-Hosted Infrastructure
You will act as the technical lead for customers moving between environments. This includes supporting self-hosted installations (on-prem) and managing the migration path to Jama’s Cloud solution. You must be proficient in troubleshooting the underlying infrastructure, specifically containerization via Docker and Kubernetes (KOTS), to resolve deployment blockers.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Log Analysis
The role goes far beyond basic “front-end” support. You will perform deep dives into system logs using the Linux command line, analyze support bundles via Datadog, and use tools like Visual VM and IntelliJ IDEA to identify performance bottlenecks or defects in Java-based web applications.
API & Network Configuration
A significant portion of the work involves resolving connectivity and integration issues. You will troubleshoot REST API calls and navigate complex networking environments involving firewalls and proxies. Your goal is to ensure “Live Traceability” across the customer’s best-of-breed tool stack remains uninterrupted.
Summary: You are the technical backbone for Jama Software’s global customer base. By combining deep Linux and Java expertise with a mastery of containerization and networking, you ensure that the world’s most innovative engineering teams can manage their requirements without technical friction.
