SAP Manager, Business Applications
An executive leadership opportunity is available for an SAP Manager, Business Applications at EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute). This role is crucial for developing and executing the strategic and operational plans for the applications development and support organization, ensuring key enterprise systems, especially SAP, align with corporate goals.
This is a full-time, remote/home-based position located in the California Home Office. The anticipated annual salary range is $170,000 USD to $190,000 USD, plus eligibility to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program.
Role Summary and SAP Leadership Mandate
This Manager will serve as a hands-on leader responsible for strategic planning, operational excellence, and team development within the business applications space. A deep understanding of SAP, particularly in finance, is essential for driving standardization, performance, and user satisfaction across EPRI’s enterprise software portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute strategic and operational plans for application development and support, ensuring alignment with EPRI’s corporate goals and long-term IT vision.
- SAP Expertise & Execution: Utilize a deep understanding of SAP systems, especially in finance, to evaluate and implement new technologies. Serve as a hands-on leader who can navigate ambiguity, make informed decisions, and drive progress independently.
- Team & Talent Management: Lead and mentor a team of business analysts, developers, and security specialists, fostering growth and accountability. Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, recognizing and cultivating diverse skill sets.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders (Finance, Contracts, Sales, R&D) to gather business requirements and resolve complex system and data design issues.
- Governance & Budgeting: Manage departmental budgets and participate in annual planning, recommending capital and expense allocations. Negotiate and manage complex contracts with external vendors.
- Change Management: Champion change management by identifying opportunities for improvement and leading initiatives that enhance system performance and user experience.
Required Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT leader with extensive experience in enterprise application deployment, proven managerial and budgetary expertise, and a strong background in SAP systems.
- Experience (Required):
- 10 to 12 years of experience in the development and deployment of key business applications.
- Experience in leading and motivating teams, in addition to preparing and executing operating plans.
- 4+ years of departmental budgetary management experience or demonstrated acumen.
- SAP & Functional Skills:
- Deep understanding of SAP systems, especially in finance.
- Strong change management skills and ability to lead teams through transformation.
- Project management and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Leadership Attributes: Comfortable working independently and making decisions with limited oversight. High level of initiative, curiosity, and resilience.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Computer Science is required (Master’s Degree preferred), though equivalent work experience is acceptable.
