Posted 2 months ago

An opportunity has come through our network for a Sales and Marketing Associate at a prominent firm in the publication industry. This is a contract position, with a flexible schedule of 25-30 hours per week, and a competitive pay rate ranging from $28 to $35 per hour. This role is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. The initial contract is for six months, with the possibility of an extension. This is an ideal position for a dynamic and multifaceted professional who possesses a unique blend of skills in both sales strategy and marketing execution. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the growth of a large portfolio of products, working collaboratively with both sales and marketing teams to expand market share and product adoption.

A Dual-Focus Role: Blending Strategy with Execution

This position is a unique blend of two critical functions: sales support and marketing execution. As a Sales and Marketing Associate, you will not be limited to a single set of tasks, but will instead be a versatile contributor, adapting to the needs of a fast-paced and evolving business. You will be a key partner to your colleagues in both the sales and marketing departments, acting as a bridge between the two to ensure a cohesive and impactful go-to-market strategy for the business portfolio.

Your sales responsibilities will be centered on providing strategic and tactical support to regional sales teams. This will involve working closely with them to formulate strategies for key adoptions and major opportunities, ensuring they have the tools and information they need to succeed. You will also have the chance to directly engage with customers on certain opportunities, taking a hands-on approach to the sales cycle. A crucial part of this will be your ability to conduct engaging and informative demonstrations of the company’s digital products. You must be able to clearly articulate the product’s value proposition and how it can solve the specific needs of the customer. In addition to customer-facing work, you will also provide support for instructor requests, a vital function in the publication industry, ensuring that educators have the resources they need to effectively use the company’s materials. This aspect of the role requires a consultative and supportive approach, building strong relationships with a key demographic.

On the marketing side, your contributions will be equally impactful. You will be actively involved in the execution of marketing initiatives that drive brand awareness and generate leads. This will include spearheading email campaigns, from a strategic planning perspective to the final execution and analysis of results. You will also be responsible for organizing and promoting webinars, which will serve as a critical platform for product education and customer engagement. Another significant component of your role will be the creation of compelling content for social media and the company’s blog, helping to build a strong online presence and thought leadership. You will also be tasked with creating and updating sales tools and collateral, ensuring that the sales team has the most up-to-date and effective resources at their disposal. A unique and rewarding part of this role is the opportunity to work directly with authors and the product team, giving you a deeper understanding of the product and a chance to contribute to the creative process.

Core Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate

To thrive in this dynamic environment, you will need a combination of practical experience, professional skills, and personal attributes. We are seeking a professional with a solid foundation in industry sales, having prior experience that demonstrates an understanding of the sales process and the ability to work effectively with customers and sales teams. A background in or knowledge of education or teaching is a significant asset, as it will provide you with valuable insight into the needs of a key user base.

Exceptional communication skills are a must. You must possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities, as you will be interacting with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively is essential for everything from sales demos to crafting marketing content. You must also be highly detail-oriented, with a meticulous approach to your work. This is particularly important for tasks such as managing campaigns, creating collateral, and ensuring accuracy in all communications.

Given the remote nature of the position, the ability to work independently is a non-negotiable requirement. We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who can manage their own time and workload effectively. You must also be a skilled multitasker with the ability to manage and prioritize competing responsibilities. One moment you might be in a strategy session, and the next you’ll be writing a blog post. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate these shifts seamlessly and efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills are also crucial, as you will be collaborating with many different teams and individuals.

Finally, proficiency in a specific set of software is required to be successful in this role. You must be well-versed in Microsoft Products, especially Excel for data tracking and analysis, and PowerPoint for presentations and sales collateral. Experience with remote collaboration tools like Zoom is essential. You should also be familiar with project management software such as Asana and customer relationship management (CRM) systems like Salesforce. These tools will be central to your daily workflow, and your proficiency with them will ensure a smooth and productive work experience.

If you are a resourceful and results-driven professional with a passion for both sales and marketing, and you meet the qualifications outlined above, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for someone who is eager to take on a challenging and rewarding role, making a tangible impact on the success of a leading company in the publication industry.
