People Systems and Workday Administrator – HCM & Financials Integration

8 am (formerly AffiniPay) is seeking a People Systems and Workday Administrator to serve as a strategic partner in managing and optimizing their People and Financial systems ecosystem, with a primary focus on Workday HCM and Workday Financials. This role is accountable for enabling scalable, efficient, and integrated technology solutions to support organizational growth.

  • Location: Remote – US (Preferably based in Austin, Texas)
  • Focus: Workday HCM, Workday Financials, Strategic Systems Roadmap, and Operational Accounting.

Key Responsibilities: Full-Stack Workday Management

This position requires hands-on configuration, strategic roadmap ownership, complex reporting development, and strong integration/change management skills across the HR and Finance domains.

  • Workday Financials Leadership: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Workday Financials. Execute configuration changes to Core Financials, Suppliers, Banking, Procurement, and Expenses modules.
  • Complex Reporting: Build reports including balance sheets, income statements, account balance matrix, intercompany eliminations, and custom reports for People Analytics and Finance.
  • System Strategy & Governance: Own the roadmap and execution of systems projects (integrations, upgrades, automations). Lead design, implementation, optimization, and governance of Workday and other enterprise systems.
  • Configuration & Process: Design complex business processes, including calculated fields, conditional rules, and custom approver roles. Maintain and configure all key Workday HCM modules (Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, etc.).
  • Integration & Compliance: Monitor and troubleshoot Workday integrations (payroll, benefits, ATS, finance). Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and confidentiality standards.

Required Experience and Technical Depth:

The ideal candidate has a deep, proven background not just in Workday configuration, but in the underlying accounting principles that drive the Financials module.

  • Workday HCM: 5+ years of experience in People Operations or HRIS systems management, with direct experience in Workday HCM.
  • Workday Financials: Minimum 3 years of hands-on technical experience in Workday Financials.
  • Accounting/Audit: Minimum 3 years of operational accounting and financial IT controls audit experience.
  • Financial Expertise: Strong understanding of GL accounting behind operational transactions, including elimination entries and CTA (Cumulative Translation Adjustment) calculations.
  • Integration Proficiency: Proven experience with system integrations for banks, credit cards, foreign exchange rates, and financial reconciliation systems.
  • Nice to Have: Experience with Workday Accounting Center, EIBs, Workday Studio, or Workday Extend.
