Network Automation Engineer
A Contract opportunity is available for a Network Automation Engineer to join the Network Automation/Operations team at Kanak Elite Services Inc. This role is focused on dramatically improving network operations efficiency through automation, supporting infrastructure for various federal and state government programs (including FSA, CDC, and veteran services).
This is a full-time, remote position in the USA.
Role Summary and Automation Mandate
This engineer will be an automation-first technologist responsible for designing and implementing solutions that eliminate manual processes across a complex, multi-cloud network environment. The role requires a strong technical foundation, experience with specific automation tools, and the ability to obtain government clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Process Automation: Automate network operations processes, including the rollout of Meraki switches and monitoring/alerting systems.
- SDWAN & Ticketing: Develop automation solutions for Palo Alto SDWAN IONs, specifically automating ServiceNow ticket creation and resolution.
- Cloud & Firewall Automation: Collaborate with the cloud team (AWS, Azure, GCP) to automate firewall rule requests for efficient and accurate implementation.
- Monitoring Integration: Integrate Aruba APs into SolarWinds for tracking and monitoring.
- Critical Infrastructure Support: Support infrastructure for federal and state government programs, requiring high standards of reliability and security.
Key Technologies Used
- Networking: Aruba Wireless, Palo Alto (SDWAN IONs, Firewalls, NGFW), Cisco (Meraki, VPN IPSEC tunnels), SolarWinds.
- Automation: Ansible, Python, Rundeck, Codeshuttle, Terraform.
- Cloud: AWS (primary), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Required Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a motivated and collaborative engineer with proven experience in automation tools and a strong cloud networking background, with the ability to quickly adapt and bring fresh ideas to the team.
- Experience: Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and cloud technologies.
- Automation Proficiency: Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Python, and Rundeck.
- Clearance Requirement: Must be able to pass a public trust clearance (6C), with the potential for a secret clearance in the future.
- Soft Skills: Excellent soft skills, including transparency, honesty, and teamwork. A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement is highly desired.
- Location: Ability to work remotely and collaborate with a distributed team (working closely with a team of 3 automation engineers).
- Preferred: Preference for candidates with hands-on cloud experience and knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
