A position is available for a Corporate HIIM (Health Information & Informatics Management) Informatics Director in the United States. This role is a key technical and operational leader responsible for the conversion, implementation, and integrity of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and related health information management systems across corporate, IT, and facility partners.

This is a full-time, remote position.


Role Summary and EHR/LHR Integrity Mandate

This Director serves as the expert bridge between HIM operations, IT infrastructure, and clinical practice, ensuring the seamless function, security, and legal compliance of all patient record systems. The role has extensive cross-functional responsibilities spanning strategy, technology, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • EHR & LHR Management: Support the design, build, upgrades, and maintenance of corporate EHRs. Manage and maintain the integrity of the Legal Health Record (LHR) through audits, conversions, and builds, developing and managing access, roles, and downtime procedures.
  • Data Migration & Storage: Oversee data migration, data minimization, and legacy-to-long-term eStorage, including quality assurance and audits. Work with IT on server remediation, deletion, and decommissioning.
  • Master Patient Index (MPI/EMPI): Provide foundational management and support of the MPI/EMPI, managing the conversion process, vendor relations, data extraction, and build assessments.
  • IT & Security Collaboration: Work closely with IT and Cybersecurity on audits, baseline reviews, breach management, and the management of Risk-Based Exceptions (RBEs). Sit on the Change and Design Board.
  • Reporting & Optimization: Manage the processes to support all reportable data for operations. Assess, develop, and maintain reports and work queues for operational automation and optimization.
  • Liaison & Support: Act as an operational liaison with IT business partners and vendors, communicating with facility HIM Directors, C-Level staff, and medical staff. Provide remote and at-the-elbow support for HIM staff and physicians.
  • Compliance & Legal: Work closely with Legal in managing vendors, contracts, vetting, and ensuring compliance for form usage (managing all acute care form usage via a cloud-based solution).

Required Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an advanced HIM professional with significant experience in acute care management, deep knowledge of multiple EHR systems, and a background in technology implementation and project management.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information & Informatics Management is required; a Master’s Degree in the same field is preferred.
  • Experience (HIM & Clinical IT):
    • 7–9 years of acute or ambulatory care management experience in HIM required.
    • 7–9 years of experience with electronic record systems (e.g., Cerner, Hyland, McKesson OneContent, Medhost, transcription, patient portal) required.
  • Facility Scope (Preferred): 7–9 years of experience with small to large hospitals, with multi-facility experience is preferred.
  • Technical/Consulting (Preferred):
    • 3–5 years of consulting and project management experience preferred.
    • 3–5 years of experience with SQL report writing application/software and dashboards preferred.
  • Key Skills: Must be knowledgeable of information systems and healthcare applications, possess critical thinking skills, and have the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the facility (staff, physicians, C-level) and Corporate.
