Gainwell is seeking a Director, Provider Technology and Innovation Strategy to serve as a results-driven, technically minded business leader. This executive role is responsible for driving market analysis, competitor evaluation, and product innovation strategies across the Provider Solutions portfolio, with a strong focus on the Medicaid and public sector health space.

This is a 100% remote position within the United States, with an opportunity for up to 10% annual travel. The pay range for this role is $137,100.00 – $195,800.00 per year, plus comprehensive benefits including flexible vacation and 401(k) match.


Role Summary and Innovation Mandate

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Provider Solutions, the Director acts as the face of provider product strategy and innovation. This leader is accountable for evaluating existing products, identifying new development opportunities, and ensuring cross-discipline alignment on all product technology and process advancements from concept through delivery.

Key Functions and Impact:

  • Market Strategy & Analysis: Conduct detailed Medicaid federal, market, policy, and competitor analysis to inform product strategy and innovation roadmaps. Assess the target market, competitive landscape, and federal/state mandates (CMS).
  • Product Vision & Business Cases: Develop business cases for new solutions that will add significant value and drive client and company success. Define opportunities to evolve existing solutions over time through organic and inorganic transformation.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate strategies and communicate effectively across leadership roles in Product, Engineering, Implementation, Delivery/Operations, Marketing, and Sales to achieve innovation goals.
  • Technology Advancement: Interface with engineering and business leads to identify and prioritize technology advancement opportunities. Draw from best and emerging practices across the technology industry.
  • Executive Reporting: Produce and deliver executive reports on technology and innovation vision, strategy, and finances on a routine basis.

Required Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a strategic, technically-minded leader with extensive experience in healthcare technology consulting, a deep understanding of Medicaid provider processes, and a proven track record of bringing successful new products to market.

  • Experience (Required):
    • 7-10 years of technology consulting and/or strategy management, with extensive exposure to product management, engineering, implementations, sales/marketing, and delivery.
    • 5-8 years in healthcare strategy consulting and product operations (public sector experience is a plus).
  • Domain Expertise:
    • Strong understanding of Medicaid, Provider enrollment processes, and CMS regulations (relevant commercial experience is acceptable).
    • Expertise in Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) solutions is preferred.
  • Strategic & Execution Skills:
    • Ability to drive multi-year product technology and innovation roadmaps to achieve measurable business transformation.
    • Proven achievement in bringing new products to market that drive net new business growth.
    • Experience overseeing multiple complex technology projects from concept to completion.
  • Communication: Excellent communicator with a knack for distilling complexity into clarity, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
