An executive leadership opportunity is available for a Director, Business Technology Partner (BTP) at Akamai Technologies. This strategic role will manage the technology partnership between IT and the Human Resources (HR) organization, ensuring IT services meet HR’s strategic goals and provide a world-class employee experience.

This is a full-time, remote position in the United States, operating under Akamai’s FlexBase global flexible working program. The base salary range for US-based candidates is $149,500 – $310,500 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonuses, incentives, and equity awards.


Role Summary and HR Technology Strategy Mandate

The Director, BTP is a strategic advisor who bridges business requirements with technology solutions within the HR domain. This leader will provide strategic oversight across all IT programs and projects impacting HR, from ideation and business case creation to execution and outcome measurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership: Manage the strategic partnership between IT and HR, acting as the trusted advisor for technology solutions that align with HR’s strategy goals and create the best employee experience.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with both Business and IT stakeholders, resolving needs related to strategic initiatives across both parties.
  • Program Oversight: Provide holistic/strategic oversight of Programs/Projects across the business, understanding the health of work, key trends, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Investment & Demand Management: Facilitate the intake and management of business demand and align with IT strategic planning cycles to approve, prioritize, and invest in the right initiatives.
  • Business Value & ROI: Partner with the business and IT from ideation to strategy for remediation and business case creation for investments. Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and measure business outcomes / ROI.
  • HR Domain Alignment: Collaborate with functional HR leaders (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Global Talent Development) to understand business strategy and assist in aligning technology solutions.

Required Experience and Technical Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced, executive-level technology leader with a strong background in IT consulting, program management, and hands-on experience implementing major HR technology platforms, particularly Oracle HCM Cloud.

  • Experience (Required):
    • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience in the Hi-tech industry or commensurate experience.
    • At least 5 years of experience as a Consultant, ideally in Management Consulting.
    • Prior experience leading or playing key roles in the implementation and support of the Oracle HCM Cloud platform.
    • Prior Program Management or Project Management experience.
  • HR Domain Knowledge: Domain knowledge and experience across key HR functions, including Benefits, Wellness, Global Talent Development, Compensation, Global Mobility, Employee Relations, HR Operations, Inclusion/Diversity/Engagement, and Talent Acquisition.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation skills and the ability to simplify complex technologies and topics into easy-to-understand information for an executive audience.
