Posted 1 month ago

An opportunity has emerged in our network for a DevOps Engineer at Responsive (formerly RFPIO), the market leader in Strategic Response Management SaaS. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in public-cloud infrastructure and large-scale SaaS operations, with a focus on supporting the multi-tenant platform used by over 2,000 customers, including tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.

This role is located in the United States (Texas priority). The base salary range is $110,000–$125,000 annually, plus bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.

The Role and Core Focus

The successful candidate will own the entire build-and-run pipeline, ensuring the global-scale multi-tenant platform remains performant, secure, and cost-efficient. The focus is on implementing GitOps, cloud cost management, and advanced reliability engineering.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & GitOps: Design, version, and govern cloud resources (AWS/Azure/GCP) using Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi, enforcing GitOps, drift detection, and automated compliance checks.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Operate and harden Kubernetes/EKS (or AKS/GKE) clusters tailored for multi-tenant SaaS.
  • Reliability & CI/CD: Build and maintain scalable pipelines for zero-downtime releases. Architect multi-AZ/region failover, immutable backups, automated DR drills, and chaos-engineering experiments. Own runbooks for full-stack recovery.
  • DevSecOps & Security: Embed security controls (container scanning, SBOMs, IAM least-privilege, KMS, network segmentation), implement and manage WAF, DDoS protection, and participate in security architecture reviews.
  • Observability & Optimization: Instrument metrics, logs, and tracing. Drive post-incident RCAs. Analyze cloud spend, right-size resources, and tune application stacks for latency and throughput.

Required Experience and Technical Skills

This senior-level role requires extensive experience operating mission-critical SaaS infrastructure and advanced knowledge of Kubernetes and IaC.

  • Experience: 5+ years in DevOps/SRE roles operating production SaaS on AWS (or equivalent public cloud).
  • Core Tooling: Expert in Terraform/CloudFormation, Docker, and Kubernetes/EKS.
  • Cloud Architecture: Proven track record designing secure VPC architectures, load-balancers, and auto-scaling.
  • Scripting: Strong scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash) for automation and tooling.
  • Networking & IAM: Solid grasp of networking (TLS, VPC peering, VPN, service mesh) and cloud IAM.
  • Operations: Comfortable leading high-severity incident response and post-mortems.
  • Observability: Hands-on experience with observability stacks (New Relic, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or similar).

Preferred/Nice-to-Have qualifications include professional certifications (DevOps Engineer – Professional, CKAD/CKA), experience with multi-tenant SaaS hardening (tenant isolation, org-level RBAC), and familiarity with serverless technologies (Lambda) or edge compute (CloudFront).

Benefits and Location Details

  • Location: US Remote. Candidates in Dallas, TX, will be given priority consideration.
  • Benefits Highlights: Competitive health benefits (company paid for employee), 401 (k) with company matching, 4 weeks of paid vacation, and a 4-week sabbatical after 5 years of service.
