DevOps Engineer – AWS / Kubernetes / Mission-Critical Platform
Mark43, a company focused on empowering first responders with powerful, scalable software to improve public safety, is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the platform’s infrastructure is fault-tolerant, fully automated, secure, and compliant with applicable regulations, as their systems are mission-critical.
This is a Full-Time, Remote position, with hiring approved across numerous US states, the UK, and Canada. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Role Summary and Infrastructure Automation Mandate
You will be expected to rise to the challenge of managing infrastructure where “people’s lives quite literally hang in the balance” if systems fail. This involves driving GitOps and Infrastructure as Code efforts and refining the platform’s observability and monitoring capabilities.
What You’ll Work On:
- Cloud Infrastructure: Managing Mark43’s cloud infrastructure, primarily in AWS.
- Automation: Driving GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) efforts to incorporate best practices into cloud infrastructure management.
- CI/CD & Deployment: Creating and maintaining Pipeline as Code systems that build, configure, deploy, and test applications.
- System Reliability: Ensuring the platform is scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available.
- Observability: Innovating and refining the observability and monitoring of the platform to ensure consistently high quality of service.
- On-Call: Participating in a 24/7 shared on-call rotation to provide infrastructure support and troubleshooting.
- Tooling: Using tools like Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, and Grafana to manage deployments and integrate reliable monitoring/alerting.
Required Experience and Technical Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a strong background in platform engineering, CI/CD, and container orchestration, with experience supporting mission-critical environments.
- Experience (Mandatory):
- 5+ years of industry experience in a DevOps/Platform/SRE role.
- Experience working in AWS and/or Azure.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) technologies.
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm).
- Experience building and maintaining codified CI/CD pipelines to build, package, and deploy applications.
- Experience working with and integrating leading monitoring and observability tools, including effective and proactive alerting.
- Understanding of Security & Compliance best practices.
- Mission: Building socially responsible, mission-critical software for law enforcement and first responders.
