A Fortune 100 international bank is looking for a skilled Data Engineer/Analyst with expertise in ETL and data migrations. This is a 6-month contract role with potential for extension, paying $70-$75/hr W2. The position requires a hybrid schedule, with two days a week onsite in Jersey City, NJ. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills and experience in Oracle and SQL Server environments.


Core Responsibilities

This role is for a detail-oriented professional who can handle the full lifecycle of data-related tasks. Your core duties will focus on ensuring data integrity and quality through a variety of technical and collaborative tasks.

  • SQL and ETL: You’ll write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data between Oracle and SQL Server environments.
  • Data Migration: You’ll manage file-based data migrations, ensuring the process is seamless and the data remains complete and accurate.
  • Data Quality: A significant part of your job will be performing data profiling, quality checks, and reconciliation to guarantee the accuracy of reports and analyses.
  • Problem-Solving: You’ll analyze data issues, investigate root causes, and work with both technical and business teams to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: You will document data mapping, transformation logic, and reconciliation procedures while also collaborating with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
  • Automation (Optional): If you have the skills, you may use Alteryx to automate data workflows and streamline cleansing and preparation for analysis.

Required and Preferred Skills

The bank is seeking a candidate with a strong technical foundation and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Required Skills: You must have strong hands-on experience with SQL in both Oracle and SQL Server environments. A proven track record with ETL processes and file-based data migrations is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills are also critical. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is needed.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience with Alteryx for workflow automation is a significant plus. Exposure to data warehouses or data lake environments, as well as knowledge of reporting and visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau, is also a bonus.
