As a Data Center IT Technician, you will be an integral part of the Data Center Hardware Infrastructure Technical Support team, playing a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the hardware infrastructure that powers the latest cloud computing server technologies. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated and process-oriented professional to contribute to the backbone of modern technology, with the potential for a long-term conversion to a permanent role.

The Role: A Critical Contributor to Cloud Infrastructure

As a Data Center IT Technician, your core responsibility will be the hands-on maintenance of hardware infrastructure for cutting-edge cloud computing server technologies. This isn’t just about fixing things; it’s about being the first line of defense in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical systems. Your role requires a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills, as you’ll be tasked with quickly and accurately resolving issues with server and network hardware. This will involve conducting root cause analysis, which requires a solid understanding of computer and server components, network devices, and command-line diagnostics. You must be able to think on your feet, diagnose complex problems, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

The environment you’ll be working in is fast-paced and demanding. This position requires the ability to successfully operate in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations while simultaneously handling multiple critical priorities. You must be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, a high level of personal initiative, and sound judgment. The ability to work independently and make decisions that benefit team objectives is a key success factor. This role is not for someone who waits to be told what to do; it’s for someone who takes ownership and proactively seeks solutions. Your strong attendance is essential to the team’s success, as your physical presence in the data center is required to perform your duties.

A portion of the work for this position will be performed in an AWS GovCloud region. This means that access to this specific region is restricted to individuals who are U.S. Citizens. Please note that this GovCloud region cannot be accessed from outside of the United States. All physical requirements for the role are expected, with reasonable accommodations. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and may be required to work in elevated locations.

Essential Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you must have a solid foundation in computer hardware and networking. We are seeking a professional with at least 1 year of hands-on experience in computer hardware. This includes, but is not limited to, working with CPUs, RAM, motherboards, power supplies, and peripheral devices. You should be able to demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining these components, as well as a strong familiarity with hardware assembly, installation, and configuration processes. Experience building computers from scratch is a helpful indicator of the hands-on skills we are looking for.

In addition to hardware expertise, at least 1 year of computer networking experience is required. This means you should be comfortable working with network devices and have an understanding of network infrastructure within a data center environment. You’ll be working with the latest cloud technologies, so a basic understanding of how these systems connect and communicate is crucial. You also need at least 1 year of experience with Linux Operating Systems, as this will be a foundational part of your work with cloud servers. Proficiency with command-line diagnostics in a Linux environment is a must.

Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone who is process-oriented, with a meticulous and systematic approach to their work. This ensures consistency and reliability in a high-stakes environment. A high level of work ethic and a strong sense of ethics are key to success in this organization. You must be able to demonstrate these qualities through your past experiences. Your strong attendance and ability to be present and reliable are also non-negotiable, as your physical presence is a critical component of the job.

This position offers a great opportunity for a driven professional to work with cutting-edge technology and gain valuable experience in the fast-growing cloud computing industry. The potential to convert to a permanent role provides a clear path for long-term career growth.
