Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), a large non-profit serving over 180,000 learners, is looking for a M365 CoPilot and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. This role is dedicated to deploying and managing an AI-powered future by ensuring the cloud infrastructure is secure and perfectly configured to unleash the full potential of Microsoft 365 Copilot.

This is a Full-time, Remote position, with the target hiring range being $85,961.00 – $116,299.00 annually. You must reside and work from one of SNHU’s approved states.


Primary Focus: M365 Copilot Integration & Governance

This engineer will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Copilot’s deployment, focusing heavily on data governance, security, and the integration of core Microsoft 365 services that power the AI.

  • Copilot Deployment: Lead the end-to-end technical deployment, configuration, and governance of Microsoft 365 Copilot.
  • Data Governance & Security:
    • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to establish data access boundaries and information protection policies tailored for AI use.
    • Configure and increase Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and sensitivity labels to govern the data Copilot can access.
    • Ensure data is structured, secure, and compliant to maximize Copilot’s utility and accuracy.
  • M365 Integration (AI Context):
    • Administer and troubleshoot Exchange Online, including mail flow, transport rules, and public folder governance, which are critical to Copilot’s email context capabilities.
    • Manage SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams environments to ensure optimal performance and data architecture for AI.

Secondary Focus: Azure Cloud Infrastructure & IaC

The role also maintains the foundational cloud infrastructure supporting the AI environment using modern engineering practices.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and maintain a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud foundation in Azure using Terraform.
  • Automation: Create automation scripts (PowerShell, Azure CLI) to improve provisioning, deployment, and management tasks.
  • Identity & Security: Manage identity and access solutions using Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Monitoring: Implement and monitor security controls using Microsoft Defender XDR for cloud and M365 services.
  • Cost Optimization: Monitor Copilot usage patterns and cloud resource use to identify performance bottlenecks, improve costs, and ensure a high-quality user experience.

Required Experience and Qualifications

This is a mid-to-senior level cloud engineering role requiring direct experience with the M365 ecosystem and Azure architecture.

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure engineering with a track record in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • Copilot Specific: Experience with the deployment, configuration, and management of Microsoft 365 Copilot.
  • Required Certification: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification is required.
  • IaC/Automation: Experience with Terraform for managing Azure infrastructure and PowerShell for administration.
  • Core Technical Skills:
    • Experience with core Azure services (Compute, Networking, Storage, or Security).
    • Experience administering Microsoft Exchange Online, including hybrid configurations.
    • Experience with cloud security principles, Microsoft Entra ID, and identity management.
    • Experience with DevOps methodologies (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
