Cloud Engineer (Secret Clearance, Remote)
An opportunity has emerged in our network for a Cloud Engineer at GovCIO, a company transforming government IT, to manage service providers for Army and DoD IT systems. This is a full-time, remote position supporting work located in Radford, VA. The role involves designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting secure and scalable cloud-based infrastructure.
This position is PENDING CONTRACT AWARD. The salary range is $125,000.00 to $195,000.00 per year. Candidates must hold a DoD Secret Security Clearance and relevant certifications.
Key Responsibilities and Security Focus
The Cloud Engineer will be crucial in migrating on-premises applications and implementing robust, secure, and automated infrastructure for defense clients.
- Cloud Architecture & Migration: Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot secure and scalable cloud systems. Proven experience migrating on-premises applications to the cloud is required.
- Automation & IaC: Develop cloud-based applications and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The role requires strong knowledge of automation concepts and scripting languages (Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Puppet, Chef, etc.).
- Security Compliance: Implement and maintain systems in accordance with defense security requirements, including working knowledge of DoD STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and IAVM (IA Vulnerability Management).
- Networking & Protocols: Strong experience with IPSEC/VPN and other secure transport technologies, as well as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- CI/CD: Utilize Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline experience, such as Jenkins, Travis CI, AWS CodeDeploy, and working knowledge of code repositories like Git.
Required Experience and Qualifications
This is a mid to senior-level position requiring high-level government clearance and specific technical certifications.
- Clearance & Certification (Required):
- DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent IA cert).
- Computing environment certification (e.g., MCSD Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, etc.).
- Experience: Mid to senior-level Cloud Engineer experience. High School diploma with 10+ years of relevant or commensurate experience.
- Technical Depth: Expertise with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, and GCP). Strong understanding of network, storage, server, and application technologies.
- Project Management: Experience in effectively managing multiple large-scale projects.
