Cloud Engineer II (Remote, US)
An opportunity has emerged in our network for a Cloud Engineer II at Coinstar, a leader in technology engineering. This is a full-time, remote position focusing on improving and shaping the company’s hybrid cloud capabilities across AWS and Azure, as well as on-premises infrastructure. This role operates within a DevSecOps framework and is critical to enhancing Coinstar’s reference architecture and evolving CI/CD processes.
The role demands technical depth in multi-cloud platforms, infrastructure, automation, and database administration, with an emphasis on security and cost optimization. The typical starting salary range is $113,892 to $152,330 per year, with a total compensation package that includes short-term and long-term bonus incentives.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus
As a Cloud Engineer II, you’ll collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, and application engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle, acting as a catalyst for technology adoption.
- Multi-Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure:
- Maintain and support Windows and Linux systems across on-premises, AWS, and Azure infrastructures.
- Oversee resource utilization, subscription management, and cost monitoring for Azure and AWS.
- Administer Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments for high availability and user experience.
- Automation & DevSecOps:
- Build, deploy, and monitor cloud resources using automation tools like Azure DevOps, Terraform, and ARM templates.
- Partner with Software Engineering to design and support application architectures using Azure-native tools (Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Gateway, Key Vault).
- Enforce and implement security, compliance, and governance standards (e.g., Azure Security Center, Azure Policy, IAM) across multi-cloud ecosystems.
- Database Administration:
- Design, implement, and administer SQL databases across on-premises and cloud (Azure) environments.
- Perform routine DBA tasks, including daily checks, backups, log reviews, security, and performance tuning.
- Manage backup processes and test disaster recovery strategies.
- Operational Excellence:
- Optimize and troubleshoot cloud and on-prem resources to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure critical system availability.
Required Experience and Qualifications
This is a senior-level technical role requiring significant hands-on experience in a complex, multi-cloud environment.
- Experience: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) is required, along with:
- 3+ years of hands-on management and optimization of on-premise and hybrid/multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
- 2+ years utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps automation (Terraform, Azure DevOps).
- 2+ years of SQL Server database administration, including performance tuning, high availability, job automation, and data migration (on-premises to Azure).
- Demonstrated experience automating processes with PowerShell, Azure CLI, and ARM templates.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining Windows and Linux servers.
- Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and SQL monitoring tools.
- Certifications: Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Solutions Architect, Data Engineer) are highly preferred.
