Peraton, a national security company supporting essential government agencies, is seeking an AWS Cloud Developer to support a federal financial customer. This role involves leading cloud-native solution development, infrastructure automation, and the modernization of mission-critical services within a secure, innovative AWS environment.

This position is Hybrid—requiring some days worked onsite—with a salary range of $86,000 to $138,000. Due to the nature of the client, candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.


Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus

This role requires a blend of technical leadership and hands-on cloud development, focusing heavily on migrating and modernizing complex data systems.

  • Cloud Architecture Leadership: Lead the strategic planning and execution of migrating and maintaining large, complex data flows to modern cloud environments, leveraging AWS technologies.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Write clean, maintainable IaC and cloud service logic using tools such as Python, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation or CDK.
  • Cloud-Native Development: Develop and deploy event-driven and containerized applications using core AWS services like Lambda, Step Functions, and Kubernetes (EKS).
  • System Modernization: Support and enhance COTS products providing file transfer and MQ services (e.g., IBM MQ, Connect: Direct), integrating them into modern AWS architectures.
  • Operations: Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and documentation of AWS environments and deployed solutions.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate closely with stakeholders to manage integration and interface requirements, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

Required Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in AWS cloud development and technical leadership.

  • Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience, or 9 years of experience with a High School Diploma.
  • AWS Expertise: Strong background in AWS cloud engineering and development, with experience across a wide range of services including EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SNS, SQS, Glue, EKS/ECS.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficient in scripting and programming languages: Python, Ansible, and Bash.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Experience developing or supporting infrastructure using CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
  • IaC Tools: Experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
  • Containerization: Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Preferred Qualifications include experience supporting file transfer and MQ tools (IBM MQ, Connect: Direct), familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), and an understanding of compliance and security best practices in federal financial cloud environments.
