Analyst, Fraud Intelligence – AI-Driven Post-Purchase Protection
This is a full-time, remote (US) Analyst, Fraud Intelligence role at Extend, a company that provides AI-driven post-purchase solutions, including product and shipping protection. The Fraud Intelligence team is responsible for building cutting-edge analytics engines and fraud detection models. This role focuses on applying strong business acumen and analytics to uncover fraud patterns, influence business strategy, and rapidly develop mitigation solutions against emerging threats.
- Location: Remote, within the Continental United States.
- Expected Pay Range: $110,000 – $135,000 per year salaried.
- Experience Required: 2+ years of experience in fraud analytics, ideally within an e-commerce or retail environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.).
- Focus: Analyzing large-scale behavioral/transactional data, SQL/Python proficiency, statistical modeling, and developing monitoring frameworks to stop fraud.
- Environment Preference: Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment is preferred.
What You’ll Be Doing: Detection, Strategy, and Mitigation
This is a high-ownership role where the analyst’s work directly impacts the company’s bottom line and protects its merchant partners.
- Fraud Pattern Analysis: Analyze large-scale behavioral, transactional, and interaction data to uncover signals indicative of fraud and abuse. Apply strong business acumen to rapidly identify actionable insights, analyze fraud patterns, and validate hypotheses.
- Mitigation Development: Respond swiftly to emerging fraud threats by developing monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and mitigation solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strategic Influence: Influence business cases and pricing strategies, and contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives with prospective merchants.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with leadership, go-to-market, fraud operations, product, and engineering teams to define and execute effective fraud strategies.
- Team Culture: Champion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration across the fraud and broader data science teams.
Required Qualifications and Technical Skills
The successful candidate must be a hands-on, proactive, data-obsessed professional proficient in core data science concepts and tools.
- Domain Experience: 2+ years of experience in fraud analytics, ideally within an e-commerce or retail environment. Deep understanding of user behavior and fraud patterns.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in SQL is mandatory.
- Experience in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.) is required.
- Strong grasp of core data science and analytics concepts, including statistical analysis, modeling, and data wrangling.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes. High attention to detail and strong intellectual curiosity.
