​Unisys is a global technology solutions company that powers the mission-critical operations of governments and enterprises. In this role, you will be responsible for the high-level administration of a diverse infrastructure estate, ranging from modern RHEL distributions to legacy AIX and HP-UX environments. This position is heavily focused on supporting high-compliance sectors, specifically adhering to DoD (Department of Defense) security standards and managing the full server lifecycle across physical and virtualized platforms.

• ​Location: Remote (Must be local to Groton/New London, CT for site proximity)
• ​Experience: 6+ years in Linux (RHEL) and 7+ years in UNIX (AIX/HPUX).
• ​Core Tech: RHEL (6–9), AIX, HP-UX, Red Hat KVM, VMware ESX, Nagios.
• ​Compliance: DoD Security Standards & Vulnerability Management.

​Multi-Flavor UNIX & Linux Administration

​You will provide expert-level support for a multi-tenant environment featuring RHEL 6/7/8/9 and Oracle Linux, alongside traditional UNIX systems like IBM AIX and HP-UX. Your responsibilities include software package management via yum and dnf, managing complex repositories, and optimizing system performance for large-scale client environments.

​Virtualization & Server Lifecycle

​You will manage both test and production environments utilizing Red Hat KVM and VMware ESX. The role spans the entire server lifecycle: from initial provisioning and network configuration to proactive monitoring via Nagios and final decommissioning. You will work closely with clients to identify automation opportunities that centralize reporting and reduce operational toil.

​DoD Compliance & Cybersecurity

​A core pillar of this role is hardening systems to meet DoD standards. You will perform regular vulnerability assessments, apply critical security patches, and audit systems to ensure compliance with both internal and external mandates. This includes managing strict access controls, permissions, and identity management to protect sensitive data across the infrastructure.
