Technical Support Engineer – Metronome (Remote/Hybrid)
Metronome is the high-scale billing infrastructure powering the world’s most prominent AI and software companies, including OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Anthropic. As a founding member of the technical support organization, you will operate at the intersection of support and engineering. This role is highly technical, focusing on usage-based billing—a complex domain where consumption data must be perfectly synchronized with financial workflows.
- Location: Remote, NYC, or San Francisco
- Experience: 3+ years in high-level technical support or engineering.
- Core Tech: APIs, SQL, TypeScript (or Python/Ruby), Scripting.
- Client Base: Developers at top-tier enterprise tech companies.
API Integration & Developer Advisory
You will act as a consultant for customers’ developers, guiding them through the integration of Metronome’s usage-based billing APIs. Because billing is business-critical, you must ensure that consumption events are accurately ingested and that the integration can handle the massive scale required by companies like Databricks or Confluent.
Debugging & Tool Development
As part of the engineering organization, you aren’t just identifying bugs—you are expected to solve them. You will use SQL to investigate data discrepancies and write scripts in TypeScript, Python, or Ruby to build internal tools. These tools will automate workflows and bridge feature gaps, directly influencing the long-term product roadmap.
Feedback Loop & Product Impact
Because every escalation is viewed as a learning opportunity, you will play a strategic role in defining the product’s future. You will identify recurring patterns in developer challenges and advocate for “productizing” solutions that are currently handled via manual support or custom scripts.
