​This is a full-time, entry-level Data Analyst I role at CorVel, a risk management solutions provider. The analyst is responsible for turning data into insights to inform decisions and drive profit across multiple departments. This role involves basic data cleaning, analysis, and reporting, working closely with senior team members and internal customers.

  • Location: Remote or Hybrid (Based out of Irvine, CA 92614, USA).
  • Pay Range: $65,436 – $98,982.
  • Experience Required: 1–2 years of experience with data analysis.
  • Education: College degree, preferably in a quantitative field (equivalent experience accepted).
  • Focus: Basic data preparation, SQL querying, Power BI/dashboard assistance, supporting senior analysts, and working with internal customers across the organization.

​Essential Functions: Support, Analysis, and Reporting

​The Data Analyst I works under direction to deliver foundational analysis and support for executive-level decision-making.

  • Data Preparation & Analysis: Performs basic data cleaning, analysis, and reporting under the direction of manager and/or senior team members. Analyzes results of collected data using statistical tools and provides ongoing reports.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Assists senior team members with producing dynamic, meaningful, clear, and informative reports and/or dashboards using standard business intelligence tools.
  • Stakeholder Support: Works closely with internal customers to build relationships, continuously gaining a deeper understanding of relevant data and processes to build analytical solutions that meet business needs.
  • Development Support: May assist with report development, specification design, and the facilitation of report testing.

​Required Knowledge & Skills

​The position requires foundational knowledge of key analytical tools, particularly SQL and Excel, and familiarity with a statistical programming language.

  • SQL: Basic proficiency in SQL required with the ability to retrieve data using SELECT, WHERE, FROM queries and understand basic high-level relational database concepts like joins.
  • BI Tools: Basic Power BI understanding and proficiency is required.
  • Programming: Familiarity with at least one programming language required, such as R, STATA, MATLAB, Python, etc.
  • Spreadsheets: Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
