This is a full-time, remote Data Services Analyst role at Candid, a nonprofit organization providing data and insights about the social sector. The role is a client-facing and technical position, focusing on delivering custom data services, insights, and reporting to both external and internal stakeholders. Key responsibilities include managing the end-to-end delivery of custom data extracts and building high-quality reporting and automation solutions.
- Location: Remote, United States.
- Schedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $45,000 – $73,000 (Adjusted based on locality, with NYC representing the high end).
- Experience Required: Minimum of 1–3 years of related experience.
- Focus: Custom data set delivery, client consultation, automation of processes, building technical frameworks for data delivery, dashboard development, and ensuring data consistency.
- Domain Knowledge (Plus): Knowledge of non-profit data or the non-profit sector is a big plus.
Responsibilities: Custom Delivery, Automation, and Stakeholder Liaison
The analyst acts as a data expert and consultant, bridging client needs with technical solutions while promoting internal efficiency.
- Custom Data Delivery: Deliver custom data sets to customers—working with the sales team to scope client needs, consulting on estimates, handling client communication, design, documentation, and delivery of custom data extracts, and providing post-delivery support.
- Solution Building: Build and maintain high-quality reporting and analysis solutions. Design, build, and maintain visualization dashboards for stakeholders.
- Automation & Efficiency: Increase organizational efficiencies through the design and implementation of automated processes wherever possible. Design, build, and maintain technical frameworks for consistent, quick delivery of data sets.
- Data Consistency: Accountable for building and maintaining Data Services product offerings and ensuring data consistency between Candid’s subscription tools and reporting database.
- Collaboration & Review: Document and share developed code for peer review, and peer review other team members’ work. Partner and collaborate with internal teams on cross-departmental projects.
- Stakeholder Management: Able to “translate” business needs to more technically oriented teammates and vice-versa. Partner with the sales team to deliver high customer satisfaction.
Required Skills and Technical Experience
The role requires strong SQL proficiency and foundational knowledge of data handling, with a preference for modern data and cloud tools.
- Core Technical Skills:
- Proficient writing moderate to complex SQL working against large relational databases.
- Ability to apply various mathematical calculations and statistical techniques to datasets.
- Experience (1–3 years): Experience in gathering requirements from stakeholders and providing data solutions that meet those needs.
- Preferred Tools/Skills (A Plus):
- Experience in using SQL Server Tools such as SQL Integration Services, Reporting Services, Management Studio.
- Demonstrated ability to write Python, C#, and related languages.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
- Experience with machine learning or natural language processing.
- Experience with Azure DevOps for source and version control.
- Experience with Snowflake and AWS for cloud computing.
- Soft Skills: Strong listener, professional in communications, able to work comfortably under minimal supervision, and possess a detail-oriented yet “big picture” approach.
