This is a full-time Actuarial Data Analyst role at Florida Blue/GuideWell, focusing on providing essential data support for actuarial activities. The analyst is responsible for creating, reconciling, summarizing, and analyzing data used in various actuarial analyses. A critical component of this job involves supporting the month-end close process, requiring availability/on-call work during the first week of each month to manage data loads.

- Annualized Salary Range: $$75,700 – $123,000.
- Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $$75,700 – $94,600.
- Experience Required: 5+ years of related work experience in programming, database management, or data validation.
- Key Focus: Data reconciliation/analysis for Actuarial, month-end data loading, data process documentation, and troubleshooting technical data issues.
- Market Segments: Supporting Medicare, Individual, Local Group, and National Account Market Segments.
Essential Functions: Reconciliation, Troubleshooting, and Close Support
The analyst acts as the key data expert for the Actuarial team, ensuring data quality, consistency, and timely availability.
- Data Management & Analysis: Create, reconcile, summarize, and analyze data used for actuarial analyses.
- Month-End Criticality: As part of the month-end close process, the analyst must manage data loading between the 1st and 5th of each month and be available to work or be on-call during this time.
- Technical Support: Troubleshoot, identify, report, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner. Train others regarding data sources, data limitations, and efficient retrieval methods.
- Process Improvement: History in documenting data processes and identifying redundancies and improvements. Experience in process improvement and workflows.
- Methodology Development: Support the design and development of methods, tools, models, frameworks of analysis, and research techniques using BCBSF business and industry relation information.
- Actuarial Representation: Represent Actuarial in workgroups, attending meetings, and UAT (User Acceptance Testing), including creating and executing test cases.
Required and Preferred Skills
The role demands strong technical execution skills, particularly in Excel and database management, with a preference for scripting knowledge.
- Required Experience (5+ years): Experience in programming, database management, or data validation.
- Core Technical Skills:
- Expert Excel skills including VBA, Pivot Tables, using Formulas, and linking to data.
- History in documenting data processes and identifying redundancies and improvements.
- Preferred Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of scripting languages and data analysis tools, including R Studio.
- Experience with user testing and ability to create and execute test cases.
- Communication: Experience working with cross-functional teams and customers to understand their needs and provide solutions.
