SelectQuote is seeking a System Administrator III to be a technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s enterprise-level server infrastructure. This role is essential for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of core IT systems and includes providing mentorship to junior engineers.

Essential Duties: Design, Automation, and Mentorship
The role drives strategic infrastructure improvements and acts as the final point of technical resolution.
- Infrastructure Lifecycle: Drive the entire end-to-end lifecycle of complex server infrastructure solutions. Lead technical projects and infrastructure improvements from initial concept to deployment.
- Automation: Develop and implement automation strategies to streamline system administration tasks and improve operational efficiency (mentioned twice for emphasis).
- Escalation & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex server hardware, OS, and application-level issues, often serving as the key point of escalation for junior engineers.
- Security & Compliance: Manage and maintain system security, ensuring all infrastructure components comply with internal policies and industry standards.
- Resilience: Oversee the planning, testing, and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Availability: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical IT infrastructure incidents (mentioned twice).

Success requires advanced knowledge across various technical domains, including cloud, networking, and modern deployment practices.
- Operating Systems: Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Networking & Storage: Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting server connectivity using core networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, VLANs). Advanced knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel).
- Cloud & DevOps (Highly Desirable): Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments. Experience with DevOps and CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration.
- Project Management: Proven ability to lead large-scale business-critical IT projects with significant business impact.
- Methodology: Understanding of the ITIL framework and incident/change management processes.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, advanced problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to mentor technical teams.
