cFocus Software is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join their program supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) Navy. This remote role is focused on managing, maintaining, and optimizing highly available and secure Unix/Linux servers and associated network systems, requiring strict adherence to mandatory DoD security protocols.
- Location: Remote
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.
- Certification: Must hold an Active DoD IAT Level II certification.
- Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in Unix and/or Linux system administration.
- Focus: Unix/Linux server administration, cybersecurity compliance (STIGs, RMF), disaster recovery, performance tuning, and providing Tier III support in a high-security environment.
Key Responsibilities: Compliance, Optimization, and Tier III Support
The administrator’s duties involve daily operations, adherence to military security standards, and leveraging automation to maintain mission-critical systems.
- Core Administration: Administer, maintain, and optimize Unix/Linux servers to ensure high availability and performance. Perform system installations, upgrades, and patches following approved change control procedures.
- Security & Compliance: Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in compliance with DoD security policies. Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure systems meet compliance requirements such as STIGs and RMF controls. Assist with vulnerability scanning and remediation.
- Maintenance & Recovery: Implement and monitor system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes. Develop and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshooting & Support: Monitor system performance and capacity, identifying and resolving technical issues proactively. Provide Tier III support and mentorship to junior administrators.
- Automation: Support automation efforts using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) to streamline administrative tasks.
- Availability: Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotations to support mission-critical systems.
Required Qualifications: Clearance, Certification, and Technical Depth
- Clearance/Certification: Required to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance and possess an Active DoD IAT Level II certification.
- Experience: Three years of professional experience, including system backup/recovery, security management, and sizing/performance tuning.
- Technical Knowledge: Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools such as firewalls. Knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities and detection methods.
