​cFocus Software is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join their program supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) Navy. This role requires managing, maintaining, and optimizing highly available and secure enterprise networks and software systems, with a mandatory focus on compliance with stringent DoD security protocols.

  • Location: Remote
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.
  • Certification: Must hold an Active DoD IAT Level II certification.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in Windows system administration of networks and software systems.
  • Focus: System administration across both Windows and Unix/Linux, cybersecurity compliance (STIGs, RMF), disaster recovery, performance tuning, and providing Tier III support.

​Key Responsibilities: Security, Compliance, and Operations

​The administrator’s duties span daily operations, adherence to military security standards, and supporting automation efforts.

  • System Administration (Dual Focus): Administer, maintain, and optimize both Unix/Linux and Windows servers to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Security & Compliance: Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in compliance with DoD security policies. Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure systems meet compliance requirements such as STIGs and RMF controls. Assist with vulnerability scanning, patch validation, and remediation efforts.
  • Maintenance & Recovery: Implement and monitor system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes. Perform system installations, upgrades, and patches in accordance with approved change control procedures.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Monitor system performance and capacity, identifying and resolving technical issues proactively. Provide Tier III support and mentorship to junior administrators.
  • Automation: Support automation efforts using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) to streamline administrative tasks.
  • Availability: Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotations to support mission-critical systems.

​Required Qualifications: Clearance, Certification, and Technical Depth

  • Clearance/Certification: Required to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance and possess an Active DoD IAT Level II certification.
  • Experience: Three years of professional experience, including system backup/recovery, basic software management, security and library management, and sizing/performance tuning.
  • Technical Knowledge: Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP. Qualified experience with major network security tools such as firewalls. Qualified experience of computing and networking vulnerabilities and latest detect methods.
  • Documentation: Experience developing system specifications and performing market research procurement tasks.
