Prowess Consulting, a technology consulting firm, is seeking a junior-level System Administrator/System Engineer/Test Engineer to join their team. This role is a hybrid technical position focused on researching, testing, and developing content for hardware benchmarking and stress testing.

• Location: Remote (Must reside in one of the specified 19 states).
• Work Type: Temporary, Part-Time, Hourly (Collaboration required during Pacific Time Zone hours).
• Pay Range: $45.00 – $60.00 per hour, DOE.
• Focus: Cloud administration, scripting, and performance testing of server infrastructure.

The Role: Testing, Scripting, and Analysis

The core of this position involves hands-on execution of tests and analysis of the resulting performance data.

• Testing & Benchmarking: Running publicly available hardware benchmarks and providing Python/PowerShell/Bash/Shell scripts or interactive steps to stress test server infrastructure hardware.
• Research & Development: Researching, testing, developing, and writing in support of benchmarking and testing activities.
• Troubleshooting: Utilizing strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills to resolve issues encountered during testing.

Required Qualifications: Cloud and Scripting Foundation

The ideal candidate has foundational experience in major cloud platforms and a working knowledge of scripting for automation and testing.

• Education: Associate degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field) required.
• Cloud Experience: 2+ years’ experience or working knowledge administrating AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle cloud.
• Scripting: 2+ years’ or working knowledge with scripting languages such as Python and Batch/Shell scripts.
• Documentation: Ability to take clear notes and write concise technical documentation.
• Analysis: Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.

Nice to Have Skills (Indicating Lab/Enterprise Focus):

Experience in these areas indicates a strong fit for the lab environment Prowess supports.

• System Administration: Experience in Windows and/or Linux administration.
• Lab/Infrastructure: Experience with building sandbox and lab environments and configuring enterprise storage.
• Advanced Technologies: Experience with Kubernetes, AI/ML workloads, Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix), and databases (Microsoft SQL, MySQL).
