The organization is seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator specializing in the z/OS mainframe environment. This role is responsible for the complete lifecycle management, performance, security, and integrity of the IBM MQ infrastructure on the z/OS platform.

This is a Full-time, Remote position in the United States. The annual salary is between $73,350 and $116,000, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program. Visa transfer or sponsorship is not offered for this role.

Core Responsibilities and z/OS Mandate

This administrator will handle all aspects of IBM MQ, from installation and configuration to troubleshooting, security, and performance tuning, requiring strong collaboration with other specialized teams.

• Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade IBM MQ queue managers and related components on z/OS.
• Object Management: Manage MQ objects, including queues, channels, listeners, and process definitions.
• Monitoring & Tuning: Monitor MQ performance, availability, and message flows; proactively address issues and bottlenecks. Conduct performance tuning and recommend improvements for reliability and scalability.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex MQ connectivity, message delivery, and operational problems.
• Security & Compliance: Administer security policies, RACF profiles, and access controls for MQ resources. Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for MQ environments.
• Support & Projects: Provide on-call support, participate in change management and incident response processes, and support MQ upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning activities.

Required Experience and Technical Knowledge

The role requires deep, hands-on experience with IBM MQ, specifically on the z/OS mainframe, and familiarity with core mainframe utilities and concepts.

• Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ administration on z/OS.
• MQ Concepts: Strong experience with core MQ concepts: queue managers, queues, channels, logs, and clustering.
• z/OS Expertise: Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system, JCL (Job Control Language), SMP/E, and mainframe utilities.
• Security & Networking: Familiarity with RACF or equivalent mainframe security tools. Proficiency in troubleshooting MQ and TCP/IP network issues.
• Tools: Experience with monitoring tools and performance analysis for MQ.
• Skills: Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
