Crown Castle, a leader in shared communications infrastructure, is seeking a System Administrator II, Netcool (P2) to support its Tower monitoring system. This role is pivotal in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of the IBM Netcool Suite deployment.

This is a Full-time, Remote position in the United States, with an expected salary range of $74,100 – $101,900 annually. Travel up to 20% may be required for on-site collaboration.

Core Responsibilities and Netcool Mandate

This Administrator will lead efforts in the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the entire Netcool Suite, ensuring seamless operational visibility and compliance across the monitoring infrastructure.

• Netcool Administration:
  • Administer and maintain IBM’s Netcool Suite, including Object Servers, Gateways, Probes (SNMP, Syslog, TL1, etc.), and WebGUI/DASH.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Netcool Impact policies for event enrichment, correlation, and automation.
  • Import SNMP MIBs and develop probe rules in accordance with the Netcool Common Knowledge Library (CKL).
  • Create and manage WebGUI filters, views, and dashboards to enhance operational visibility.
• Maintenance & Security:
  • Implement software updates and new releases during scheduled change windows, adhering to change management protocols.
  • Perform regular patching and system refreshes to maintain performance and security.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security controls.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures and conduct system audits for compliance.
• Support & Collaboration:
  • Monitor and resolve support tickets; troubleshoot application and system issues to identify root causes.
  • Oversee DNS configurations relevant to Netcool operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors; provide user training and ongoing support.
  • Support capacity planning by analyzing system usage trends.

Required Experience and Technical Qualifications

The role requires a minimum of three years of direct Netcool administration experience and proficiency in the underlying operating system and networking protocols.

• Experience (Minimum): 5+ years of professional technical experience, with 3+ years of experience in Netcool administration specifically.
• Netcool Tools: Experience with WebGUI/DASH, including dashboard and filter creation. Familiarity with Impact Policies (preferred).
• Operating System: Proficiency in Linux system administration (RedHat/CentOS).
• Networking & Protocols: Solid understanding of network protocols, SNMP, JSON, and API integration.
• Monitoring Skills: Experience writing probe rules and managing monitoring configurations.
