System Administrator II – Data Center/Infrastructure (Aventiv)
Aventiv Technologies is hiring a System Administrator II responsible for the effective management and support of the organization’s IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on the Data Center space. This role is highly project-focused and involves advanced system management, troubleshooting, and mentoring.
This is a Full-time position in the United States with a salary range of $89,313.08 – $101,816.91 per year.
Core Duties and Data Center Mandate
The System Administrator II operates at an intermediate to senior level, handling complex configurations, driving performance optimization, and maintaining the physical integrity of the data center environment.
- Server & System Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain advanced server environments, including virtualized (VMware WSXi & vCenter Server) and cloud-based systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain advanced software, applications, and services across multiple platforms.
- Independently manage critical system configurations and drive system performance optimization.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor IT systems and infrastructure continuously to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability.
- Identify and address system bottlenecks (server load, network congestion, storage limitations) through proactive analysis.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, including OS failures, network outages, and hardware malfunctions.
- Data Center Physical Integrity:
- Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly inspections of UPS, generator, air conditioning, and environmental systems.
- Installation and maintenance of Power Distribution Units (PDUs), IT security appliances, and camera compliance systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, including replacing/upgrading components.
- Security & Mentorship:
- Support the implementation and enforcement of security policies (access control, authentication, data encryption).
- Provide advanced technical support, resolve escalated incidents, and support and mentor entry-level administrators.
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed system documentation.
Required Experience and Technical Knowledge
The role demands a minimum of three years of professional experience with core Microsoft and virtualization technologies, along with deep infrastructure knowledge.
- Minimum Technical Experience:
- 3+ years of professional experience in Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022.
- Experience with VMware WSXi & vCenter Server.
- Experience with Active Directory, Azure, and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
- Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise storage solutions (SAN and NAS), including configuration and management.
- Comprehensive understanding of system security frameworks, including vulnerability assessments.
- Advanced proficiency in disaster recovery planning and comprehensive backup/restore operations.
- Demonstrated experience using advanced system monitoring tools and methodologies.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds; work may involve raised floor environments.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Industry Standard Certifications such as VCP, AZ-800, AZ-801.
