Prowess Consulting, a technology consulting firm, is seeking a junior System Administrator/Test Engineer. This role is focused on the technical execution of benchmarking and stress testing for server infrastructure hardware, supporting large enterprise technology clients.

This is a Part-time, Hourly, Temporary, Remote role (must reside in one of the 20 specified U.S. states) with an hourly pay range of $45.00 – $60.00 per hour, DOE. Collaboration within the Pacific Time Zone is essential.

The Role and Technical Mandate

You will be involved in research, testing, development, and writing that supports hardware benchmarking efforts. The position requires a mix of systems administration knowledge and hands-on scripting to analyze hardware performance under load.

Core Responsibilities:

• Benchmarking & Testing: Run publicly available hardware benchmarks and track results.
• Stress Testing: Run provided Python/PowerShell/Bash/Shell scripts or interactive steps to stress test server infrastructure hardware.
• Documentation & Analysis: Take clear notes and write concise technical documentation. Analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.
• Research & Development: Research, test, and develop content in support of benchmarking and testing.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate has foundational knowledge in systems administration, cloud, and scripting, and is prepared for a hands-on technical testing environment.

• Minimum Required Experience:
  • Associate degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, or related).
  • 2+ years’ experience or working knowledge of administering AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle cloud.
  • 2+ years of working knowledge with scripting languages such as Python and Batch/Shell scripts.
  • Must be able to work Pacific Time Zone hours.
• Nice to Have (Preferred Skills):
  • Experience in both Windows environment (2+ years) and Linux Administration (2+ years).
  • Experience configuring enterprise storage (1+ year).
  • Experience with building sandbox and lab environments (2+ years).
  • Familiarity with advanced technologies such as Kubernetes, AI/ML workloads, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV), Nginx, and Redis.
