Web Application Developer – Federal Government IT
Planned Systems International (PSI), an Enterprise IT services company focused on Federal Government organizations, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Web Application Developer. This role involves participation in the full Agile application development lifecycle for Java-based web applications and services.
This is a Full-time, Remote position in the United States. U.S. Citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
Essential Functions and Development Mandate
The Web Application Developer will be a key contributor to a dynamic team, focusing on the design, construction, and testing of highly scalable, cloud-based Java applications and components within an Agile framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Development Lifecycle: Participate in the full Agile application development life cycle for new development design, construction, and testing.
- Core Technology Focus: Development of Java applications, Web Services (SOAP and REST), and reusable components.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in peer reviews and unit testing. Assist development/test teams with acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Standards & Collaboration: Adhere to, promote, and help maintain development standards and best practices; participate in regular code reviews. Contribute to an atmosphere of cross-functional teamwork.
- Agile Communication: Communicate committed stories for the upcoming sprint to backlog owners and stakeholders.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate has hands-on Java development experience, knowledge of cloud environments, and experience working within an Agile, incremental delivery model.
- Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years of hands-on development experience with open source Java stack (or equivalent combination of education/experience/certification).
- Deep understanding and experience with designing and implementing highly scalable web applications in a cloud environment.
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and cloud solutions such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Familiarity with J2EE/Java Frameworks and overall Java development techniques.
- Familiarity with Agile incremental delivery approach and rapid prototyping.
- Security & Clearance (Mandatory): U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Desired Qualifications (Bonus):
- Currently holds a DHS Public Trust Clearance.
- Certified in Lean Software Development, Kanban, Scrum, and other Agile processes.
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Experience.
