This position is for a System Administrator III supporting the OSC Technical Solutions IT Infrastructure organization for the Hanford Site. This role is pivotal in driving implementation and design services for the technical infrastructure, which includes hardware, software, and cloud service provider components.

This is a Full-time, Remote (United States) position. The pay range is $82,912.00 – $146,200.00 yearly.


Position Overview and Infrastructure Mandate

The System Administrator III will be responsible for the security, performance, and reliability of IT infrastructure components. This role involves both high-level design and hands-on operational activities, supporting a secure, regulated government environment.

Major Activities and Technical Focus:

  • Infrastructure Design & Strategy:
    • Design and implement system monitoring and performance optimization solutions.
    • Design, implement, and maintain backup strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
    • Design documentation, configuration baselining of systems, testing, or modification of IT infrastructure.
    • Evaluate new solutions through research and collaboration; evaluate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Operations & Incident Management:
    • Investigate and analyze problems to identify root causes and ensure timely resolution.
    • Responsible for incident escalation and coordination to meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) metrics.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Maintain security and integrity controls.
    • Support Disaster Recovery/Continuity of Operations (DR/COOP) exercises, testing, and live incidents per procedures.
  • Documentation & Procurements:
    • Prepare written technical documentation, training material, standards, and reports.
    • Evaluate and recommend procurements of Windows or Appliance based hardware and software.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

The candidate must have substantial IT experience and the ability to obtain a high-level government security clearance. Knowledge of Microsoft and cloud technologies is a strong plus.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • BA/BS degree with 5–8 years of Information Technology experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
    • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy access badge.
    • Ability to resolve complex issues using third-party diagnostic and monitoring tools, logs, graphs, and performance data.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Bonus):
    • Knowledge with Active Directory, ADFS, and Group Policy Management.
    • Knowledge of the AZURE ecosystem.
    • Knowledge of Zero Trust principles.
