Linux Server and WebSphere Administrator – Specialty Insurance IT
Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions is seeking a Linux Server and WebSphere Administrator to join their Corporate IT team. This senior role is responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s critical Linux and WebSphere server infrastructure, operating within a hybrid cloud environment.
This is a Full-time, Hybrid or Remote position (Remote within the United States or Hybrid in Canton, MA). The typical base salary range is $119,000 – $168,000, with a higher range of $149,000 – $178,000 for candidates in the NYC metro and San Francisco, CA areas.
The Opportunity and Technology Focus
You will work with a modern enterprise stack, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), OpenShift, WebSphere Application Server, and VMware virtualization. Success in this role will be driven by leading major technical projects, strong automation skills, and deep infrastructure expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead major technical projects spanning multiple teams and technologies. Responsible for research, cost-benefit analysis, TCO calculation, project planning, implementation, and closure.
- Linux Administration: Administer and maintain RHEL server environments, including deployment, configuration, patching, software installs, permissions, and vulnerability remediation.
- WebSphere & OpenShift: Administer and maintain WebSphere Application Server environments (provisioning applications, troubleshooting, service cycling) and support the Red Hat OpenShift environment (node configuration, project access, container adoption support).
- Automation: Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks or other automation scripts (Python, PowerShell, Terraform) for provisioning and configuration to improve operational efficiency.
- Monitoring & Support: Support DataDog agent configuration and monitoring, provide Tier III support for incident tickets, and participate in an on-call rotation and incident response.
- Security & Compliance: Collaborate with security teams on vulnerability management and ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to industry best practices.
- Mentorship: Provide support and mentorship to junior team members.
Required Expertise and Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a strong background in RHEL, significant container orchestration experience, and demonstrated proficiency in application server management and automation scripting.
- Experience (Mandatory):
- 5+ years of experience in Linux Server administration (RHEL preferred).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or equivalent platform such as Kubernetes.
- Application & Automation:
- Experience with WebSphere Application Server or equivalent platform is strongly desired.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Ansible, Python, and Terraform is strongly preferred.
- Supporting Technologies:
- Experience with CI/CD, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and general application development is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and other cloud environments preferred.
- Experience with Commvault, NetApp, and enterprise backup/storage is a plus.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field is preferred.
