Senior System Administrator – Government AWS/RHEL
Fusion Technology, a HUBZone Small Business concern providing IT services to US Government programs and the Intel Community, is seeking a Senior System Administrator. This role is critical for ensuring the uptime, performance, resources, and security of managed environments.
This is a Full-time, Fully Remote position, located in the Remote, VA, USA area. Crucially, a DoD Secret Clearance is a mandatory requirement.
Role Summary and Technical Mandate
The Senior System Administrator will be a key leader in the deployment, hardening, and maintenance of both RHEL and Windows-based systems. The role emphasizes automation (Ansible/Jenkins), cloud administration (AWS), and leveraging monitoring tools (Splunk/Grafana) to support Java-based and Pega applications.
What You’ll Do:
- Deployment & CI/CD: Lead and assist with functional builds and deployments across non-production and production environments using Jenkins.
- System Orchestration: Orchestrate the installation, hardening, testing, and ongoing maintenance of RHEL 7/8/9 & Windows-based systems, with a focus on continuous improvement and security enhancement.
- Automation & Patching:
- Automate Application server deployment for Pega and Tomcat Web Server using Ansible.
- Use Ansible to apply OS patches on RHEL 7/8/9 across multiple environments to introduce efficiency gains.
- Application Support: Provide dedicated support to PEGA developers, Java developers, and DBAs, addressing application upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Application and RHEL OS issues.
- Security & Monitoring: Analyze security requirements (Compliance, Standards, etc.) and apply the latest security patches. Leverage Splunk, Grafana, and Ansible to manage and enhance Java-based applications, system monitoring, analytics, and automation.
Required Experience and Technical Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses a substantial background in IT, mandatory experience with a wide array of AWS services, deep Linux administration skills (RHEL), and the requisite security clearance.
- Security Clearance (Mandatory): Must possess a DOD Secret Clearance.
- Experience & Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience in Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Core Systems: 7+ years of experience in upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems.
- AWS Infrastructure: Experience in supporting AWS infrastructure implementation/administration across a wide array of services: AWS IAM, VPC, EC2, EBS, EFS, RDS, S3, KMS, ELB, Auto Scaling, Security groups, ACL, Cloud Trail, and Cloud Watch.
- DevOps & Monitoring: Extensive experience with Splunk, Grafana, and Ansible for system monitoring, analytics, and automation.
- Application Expertise: Experience managing and enhancing Java-based applications and supporting specific platforms like Pega.
