Network Administrator – Financial Services (Remote AK)
Nuvision Federal Credit Union is seeking a Network Administrator to maintain and monitor the reliability, performance, and security of its computer systems and networking equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring corporate productivity and maintaining secure, available systems for member service.
This is a Full-time, Remote position, specifically for a candidate located in Alaska, USA. The hourly pay range for the Alaska region is $42.84/hr – $64.26/hr (Midpoint: $53.55/hr).
Role Summary and Infrastructure Mandate
The Network Administrator will operate under the limited supervision of the AVP Network Infrastructure. Key responsibilities include network maintenance, vulnerability resolution, project support, and maintaining security for local and remote network access. This role is a direct contributor to the Credit Union’s disaster recovery and business continuity efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Maintenance & Performance: Maintain the network by monitoring circuit status and performance, installing upgrades and patches, and promptly resolving vulnerability assessments.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and diagnose complex network hardware or software issues, analyze problems, identify the cause, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Planning & Optimization: Use network management tools to identify traffic and recommend solutions to optimize network performance. Design and plan for expansion or enhancement of network infrastructure.
- Security & Access Control: Maintain users and security controls for local and remote network access.
- Project Support: Act as a contributing member of various project teams, managing time effectively to ensure projects stay within time and cost constraints, and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
- Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DR/BC): Assist with ongoing testing of systems and data restores. Participate in routine DR/BC exercises.
- Inventory & Contracts: Inventory network support contracts and ensure current licenses are in place.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a blend of progressive experience in network analysis, a solid understanding of fundamental networking models and protocols, and specific experience with enterprise-grade networking and security hardware.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 to 5 years progressive experience in network support and analysis.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model.
- Solid knowledge of Windows server suite, exchange network, and network security.
- Must have working knowledge and understanding of network architecture.
- Education: BS Computer Science or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years overall experience in the IT field, with 2+ years in network management.
- Working Knowledge of Specific Devices:
- SD-WAN devices (Silverpeak preferred).
- Cisco switching and routing.
- VPN and Firewall devices (Cisco ASA and Fortinet preferred).
- Wireless access points and VPN devices (Meraki preferred).
- Certifications: Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSE certification.
