IT Network Engineer (Permanent, Onsite, Los Angeles, CA)
A new opportunity has emerged in our network for a permanent, full-time IT Network Engineer in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the agency’s network infrastructure, ensuring it is highly available, reliable, and secure. This is an onsite position with a salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000 yearly, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
This role is hands-on and requires a deep understanding of network operations. The core duties include:
- Infrastructure Management: Managing the agency’s LAN/WAN network across all remote sites, configuring routers and switches, and securing all network firewalls to prevent security breaches.
- Security Implementation: Implementing IPS, IDS, and port security to prevent unauthorized network access. The role also involves designing, implementing, and enforcing network segmentation and security perimeters.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitoring, troubleshooting, and addressing all network-related issues. You’ll use network monitoring tools to detect bottlenecks and perform routine maintenance such as firmware upgrades and patch applications.
- On-Call Support: Providing after-hours support for network issues and project needs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
To be a good fit for this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 5-7 years of verifiable, relevant work experience. A minimum of 5 years as a network engineer in a similar environment is required, along with specific experience in the following areas:
- Routers & Switches: At least 3 years of experience supporting routers and Layer 3 switches.
- Firewalls: A minimum of 3 years managing next-generation firewalls.
- WiFi: At least 3 years of experience supporting WiFi standards 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.11ax.
- Network Security: A minimum of 3 years implementing network segmentation and security.
You should also have technical certifications like Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or ECMS. Competencies in TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, VLANs, and site-to-site VPNs are essential, as is experience with troubleshooting, network maintenance, and documentation.
