An opportunity has come through our network for an Enterprise Network Engineer at a prominent firm supporting various agencies within the U.S. Public Sector. This is a vital contract position based in Arlington, Virginia, requiring the selected candidate to work on-site as a key member of the Professional Services department. The firm is seeking a candidate with strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is centered on delivering expert-level network engineering services and providing strategic guidance to clients. The primary responsibility of the Enterprise Network Engineer is to lead critical delivery engagements, ensuring the smooth and successful execution of service delivery. This involves taking ownership of project outcomes and acting as a technical leader throughout the engagement. A key part of this role is to collaborate directly with customers to assess their unique requirements and then develop highly optimized networking solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of key technologies and protocols that are fundamental to both enterprise networks and data center environments. This includes everything from routing and switching to security and wireless. A key technical requirement is proven technical expertise in Cisco software features and functionality. This role specifically seeks someone with a strong background in Routing/Switching, with particular expertise in Cisco Nexus 7k/9k and Catalyst 9k series switches, which are core components of modern data centers and enterprise networks.

A preferred qualification is a professional certification, such as a CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) in Routing/Switching or Data Center. This certification demonstrates an elite level of technical proficiency and is a strong indicator of a candidate’s expertise. The role also values experience in VXLAN (Virtual Extensible LAN), which is essential for building scalable and efficient data center networks. Experience with network security, core networking principles, and wireless technologies is also a significant plus, showcasing a well-rounded skill set that is highly applicable to the diverse needs of public sector clients. In addition to technical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are a must. The ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences is crucial for effective collaboration and client consultation.
