This role involves basic systems administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting under direct supervision, with a focus on compliance and system standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> <strong>Remote<\/strong> (Norfolk, Virginia base)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Travel:<\/strong> <strong>Up to 25%<\/strong> as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Security Clearance:<\/strong> A U.S. citizen<strong> able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance<\/strong> is required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Salary Range:<\/strong> <strong>$80,000 &#8211; $87,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsibilities: Maintenance, Monitoring, and Support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Working under direct supervision, the administrator handles routine tasks, monitors system health, and provides technical support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Installation &amp; Maintenance:<\/strong> Installs and maintains operating and systems software, and administers user accounts and profiles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Compliance:<\/strong> Monitors compliance with system standards and manages system configuration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operations:<\/strong> Schedules, performs, and monitors <strong>system backups<\/strong> and performs data recoveries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Troubleshooting:<\/strong> Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems, escalating complex issues to higher-level staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>System Upgrades:<\/strong> Recommends hardware and software upgrades based on growth statistics and forecasts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Qualifications: Education and Certification<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This role has strict educational and certification requirements tied to information assurance and system security for government work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Experience &amp; Education (Two Paths):<\/strong>\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Baccalaureate Degree<\/strong> in Computer Science or related field <strong>AND<\/strong> a minimum of <strong>three (3) years<\/strong> of system administration experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Certificate<\/strong> from an accredited Community\/Technical College <strong>AND<\/strong> a minimum of <strong>five (5) years<\/strong> of system administration experience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Certification:<\/strong> A current <strong>SSCP (System Security Certified Practitioner)<\/strong> or <strong>Security+ certification is required<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clearance:<\/strong> Active Secret clearance (or US Citizen able to obtain and maintain one).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Desired:<\/strong> Experience with <strong>Coast Guard systems<\/strong> is a desired qualification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a Systems Administrator II to manage RF communication systems for the U.S. Coast Guard&#8217;s C5I Service Center.
