Boston Medical Center (BMC)<\/strong> is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer 3<\/strong> to manage, optimize, and support all technological and operational duties related to their AWS cloud computing environment. This role is a primary source of knowledge for building secure, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solutions in a regulated healthcare setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a Full-time<\/strong> position based at 1 Boston Medical Center Place, Boston, Massachusetts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core Responsibilities: Compliance, Optimization, and Architecture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Engineer 3 will be responsible for defining the foundational policies and ensuring efficient operation and security across the entire AWS footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Design & Policy:<\/strong> Define, document, and implement BMC policies for cloud-based systems, including Landing Zone, Control Tower, IAM, Config, and Service Control Policies (SCPs)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Cost Optimization:<\/strong> Review AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, Trusted Advisor<\/strong> and other tools to provide optimization of all resource use\/cost. (Because healthcare costs shouldn’t just apply to the patients.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Architecture & Migration:<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • Demonstrated history of moving mission-critical applications from the datacenter to AWS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Assess on-premises workloads and profile requirements for AWS support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Security & Networking:<\/strong> Expert knowledge of AWS network and security features<\/strong> (VPC, Security Groups, NACLs, ALB\/NLB, Transit Gateway<\/strong>, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Reliability:<\/strong> Strong understanding of high-availability solutioning<\/strong> (multi-AZ \/ regions, Backup, Snapshotting, archiving).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Automation:<\/strong> Utilize IaC (CloudFormation and\/or Terraform)<\/strong> and understand CI\/CD<\/strong> on the AWS platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Documentation:<\/strong> Documenting changes and workflow in an Agile environment (Jira, Confluence, Jira SM<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      \n\n\n\n

      Required Experience and Technical Stack<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      This role requires substantial experience specifically in AWS and familiarity with the rigorous security and compliance demands of the healthcare industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • Experience:<\/strong> 5\u20137 years<\/strong> related IT work experience, with at least 3\u20134 years working exclusively on AWS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Core AWS Services:<\/strong> Minimum 3 years of experience<\/strong> with AWS Cloud Services (S3, EC2, RDS, VPC, KMS, SNS<\/strong>, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • IaC & Scripting:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)<\/strong>, including CloudFormation and\/or Terraform<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Proficiency with one or more scripting languages (Python<\/strong>, JSON, YAML, bash<\/strong>, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Monitoring & Logging:<\/strong> Experience with CloudWatch<\/strong> and industry-standard visibility platforms (DataDog, Dynatrace, New Relic<\/strong>) for performance, security, and compliance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Identity & Serverless:<\/strong> Strong understanding of IAM, SSO Integration<\/strong>, and experience building applications with native services and serverless architecture (Lambda)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Certifications (Preferred):<\/strong> AWS Certifications (Cloud Practitioner, PLUS Associate or Professional level Architect<\/strong> a plus).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Compliance (Preferred):<\/strong> Healthcare domain knowledge and working in regulated environments is a plus (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
