The organization is seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator<\/strong> specializing in the z\/OS mainframe environment<\/strong>. This role is responsible for the complete lifecycle management, performance, security, and integrity of the IBM MQ infrastructure on the z\/OS platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a Full-time, Remote<\/strong> position in the United States. The annual salary is between $73,350 and $116,000<\/strong>, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program. Visa transfer or sponsorship is not offered<\/strong> for this role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core Responsibilities and z\/OS Mandate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This administrator will handle all aspects of IBM MQ, from installation and configuration to troubleshooting, security, and performance tuning, requiring strong collaboration with other specialized teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Installation & Configuration:<\/strong> Install, configure, and upgrade IBM MQ queue managers<\/strong> and related components on z\/OS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Object Management:<\/strong> Manage MQ objects, including queues, channels, listeners, and process definitions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Monitoring & Tuning:<\/strong> Monitor MQ performance, availability, and message flows; proactively address issues and bottlenecks. Conduct performance tuning<\/strong> and recommend improvements for reliability and scalability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Troubleshooting:<\/strong> Troubleshoot and resolve complex MQ connectivity, message delivery, and operational problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Security & Compliance:<\/strong> Administer security policies, RACF profiles<\/strong>, and access controls for MQ resources. Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Disaster Recovery:<\/strong> Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures<\/strong> for MQ environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Support & Projects:<\/strong> Provide on-call support<\/strong>, participate in change management and incident response processes, and support MQ upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning<\/strong> activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Required Experience and Technical Knowledge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The role requires deep, hands-on experience with IBM MQ, specifically on the z\/OS mainframe, and familiarity with core mainframe utilities and concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Experience:<\/strong> 8+ years of hands-on experience<\/strong> with IBM MQ administration on z\/OS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • MQ Concepts:<\/strong> Strong experience with core MQ concepts: queue managers, queues, channels, logs, and clustering<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • z\/OS Expertise:<\/strong> Strong knowledge of z\/OS operating system, JCL (Job Control Language), SMP\/E, and mainframe utilities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Security & Networking:<\/strong> Familiarity with RACF<\/strong> or equivalent mainframe security tools. Proficiency in troubleshooting MQ and TCP\/IP network issues<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Tools:<\/strong> Experience with monitoring tools<\/strong> and performance analysis<\/strong> for MQ.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Skills:<\/strong> Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
