Hex<\/strong>, a data platform company that provides powerful, collaborative analytics workflows, is seeking an experienced Cloud Security Engineer<\/strong>. You will be responsible for ensuring the security and resilience of the platform\u2019s cloud infrastructure and providing leadership in cloud security practices, especially regarding their RCE-as-a-Service platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a full-time<\/strong> position available in San Francisco (SF), New York City (NYC), or Remote (USA)<\/strong>. The salary range for this role is $180,000 – $220,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core Responsibilities and Container Security Mandate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This role requires close collaboration with infrastructure and engineering teams to embed security controls into cloud-native applications, focusing heavily on securing Kubernetes deployments and maintaining infrastructure-as-code standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Security Design and Isolation:<\/strong> Design, implement, and manage security solutions and controls for AWS environments and Kubernetes clusters<\/strong>, including appropriate isolation\/sandboxing methods for Hex\u2019s RCE-as-a-Service platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • IaC and Enforcement:<\/strong> Build, deploy, and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform<\/strong>, ensuring robust security standards are enforced throughout.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Assessment and Audits:<\/strong> Conduct security assessments, threat modeling<\/strong>, and audits on AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes deployments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • DevSecOps Integration:<\/strong> Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed security best practices into CI\/CD pipelines<\/strong> (Secure Software Development Lifecycle).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Compliance Expertise:<\/strong> Provide expertise in compliance requirements related to cloud security, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Incident Response:<\/strong> Monitor and respond to cloud security incidents, identifying root causes and recommending remediation actions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Mentorship:<\/strong> Mentor engineers and advocate for cloud security across the organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Required Experience and Technical Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The ideal candidate has extensive expertise in AWS and demonstrable proficiency in Kubernetes security, combining infrastructure experience with deep security knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Experience (Required):<\/strong>\n
        \n
      • 5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering<\/strong>, with extensive expertise in AWS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with Terraform.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Kubernetes Security Proficiency:<\/strong> Demonstrated proficiency with Kubernetes security<\/strong>, including cluster hardening, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)<\/strong>, network policies, and container vulnerability management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Security Tooling Familiarity:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Familiarity with AWS security services<\/strong> (e.g., IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, WAF).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Familiarity with CNAPP solutions<\/strong> such as Wiz.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Familiarity with SIEM solutions<\/strong> such as Panther.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Methodology:<\/strong> Solid understanding of secure software development lifecycle practices, CI\/CD security, and DevSecOps methodologies<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Preferred Certifications (Highly Desirable):<\/strong>\n

          • AWS Certified Security \u2013 Specialty<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
