Claritas Rx<\/strong>, a venture-backed digital health startup, is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer<\/strong> to design, build, and maintain a secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure.<\/sup> This role is crucial for ensuring reliable delivery pipelines and automated infrastructure management for platforms handling complex specialty biopharmaceutical data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a full-time<\/strong> position based in Washington, D.C., US<\/strong>, but requires candidates to be based in or able to work standard business hours in the Pacific Time zone<\/strong>.<\/sup> The salary range is $125,000 – $140,000 \/ year<\/strong>.<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Role Summary and AWS Automation Mandate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The DevOps Engineer will be the go-to expert for AWS infrastructure, working closely with engineering, analytics, and product teams. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and deep expertise in infrastructure automation to support both backend and user-facing application platforms at scale in a SaaS, healthcare, or life sciences environment.<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  • Infrastructure Management:<\/strong> Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure<\/strong>, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Automation (IaC):<\/strong> Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC)<\/strong> and automation pipelines using tools like Ansible, CDK, and AWS CodePipelines<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • AWS Core Services Oversight:<\/strong> Manage, monitor, and optimize a comprehensive suite of AWS services, including:\n
      \n
    • Compute & Networking:<\/strong> EC2, ECS, ECR, VPC, ELB, Route 53, WorkSpaces, VPN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Data Services:<\/strong> RDS, DynamoDB, DMS, S3, Glue, Athena.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Security & Compliance:<\/strong> IAM Identity Center, Secrets Manager, KMS, CloudTrail, Systems Manager.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Messaging & Eventing:<\/strong> SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Lambda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Observability & Incident Response:<\/strong> Ensure proactive monitoring and incident response using tools such as CloudWatch and Splunk<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • CI\/CD & Developer Experience:<\/strong> Support CI\/CD pipelines (Github, Bitbucket, AWS pipelines<\/strong>) and partner with engineering teams to improve developer experience, reliability, and scalability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Data Pipelines:<\/strong> Manage data and analytics pipeline tools like Airflow and Tableau<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Required Experience and Technical Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The ideal candidate has significant, hands-on experience across the core AWS ecosystem, specializing in automation, security, and containerization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Experience (Required):<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • 5+ years of experience<\/strong> in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or systems engineering, supporting production workloads (ideally in SaaS or Healthcare).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Proven track record of automating infrastructure and deployments using tools such as Ansible, CDK, Terraform\/CloudFormation, or CodePipeline\/CodeBuild.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Core Technical Stack:<\/strong>\n
            \n
          • Strong hands-on expertise with common AWS services<\/strong> (EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, ECS\/ECR, Lambda, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Skilled in containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Experienced in monitoring, observability, and incident response with CloudWatch, Splunk<\/strong>, and related tooling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Familiar with data and analytics ecosystems<\/strong> (Glue, Athena, Tableau, RDS, DMS).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Strong background in networking, DNS, and VPNs<\/strong> (including Route 53 management).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Solid understanding of security, compliance, and identity management<\/strong> (WAF, MFA, IAM Identity Center).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
